"Experimenters said that approximately one-third of the guards exhibited genuine sadistic tendencies"(pg 488). Humans are some of the strangest creatures on this planet. There are many psychological ideas people enjoy such as anxiety or drama but the one that I find most cruel and unusual is sadistic. This is the mind set that people enjoy giving pain or watching other people suffer. Is it because causing misery is unethical so when you get a chance to try it for the first time at will you enjoy this newly idea. Sadism is what happen to these guards. They were allow to cause harm but some took it a step further and enjoy this procedure. Sadism, even thought its a psychological things, is something I believe should get help treated. Imagine if everybody was a sadism. This world would be cover in blood, pain, misery and nobody would stop it because you enjoy it. That shouldn't be the society we should live in.
"Children who have witnessed such abuse or been victimized themselves frequently engage in what are known as "abuse reactive" behavior"(pg 499). Sadism is not only unethical but it could lead to a serious problem for the next generation at a young age. Children being expose to these violence could be traumatize into acting the same way themselves or maybe even worst. Their mind would be boggle by the confusing of what they see and as a result they would reenact a scenario to relieve themselves of the mind set that was imprinted in their brain. "In short, such children can only achieve a sense of safety and empowerment by inflicting pain and suffering on themselves and others"(pg 499). As this quote state, sadism would pressure children into they very same mind set and if they can't ignore it then as they continue this life style onto the next generation they same procedure will happen which will lead to the society of blood, pain, and misery.

Leadership, Ethics, Animal
"Do we eat pigs and not dogs because we don't have a system when it comes to eating animals?" (pg 446). This quote really caught my attention because there has been judging and controversy about what animal should be eaten. Places like Asian and African eat meats that Americans would find unethical. I find this amusing because in the end everybody is killing creatures for their appetite for meat so why look down on somebody that would eat an animal you wouldn't eat. Many people have different psychological mind set as to what to eat. Nobody is wrong and nobody is right. In the end we all kill to satisfy our own needs so it doesn't matter who eats what.
"In south korea, million of dogs are kill for their meat every year" (pg449). This is a prime example that any creatures are use for their meat. Some countries might think this is unethical because dogs are say to me men's best friend but in other countries dogs are just another form of meat to feed themselves. I still find it curious as too why people don't accept the fact that this is just the way of nature. People are just another form of species that happens to consume other species to live.
"The belief that eating meat is necessary is closely connected to the belief that eating meat is natural" (pg 458). This is something I would agree on because animals such as lions, alligators, sharks, and any other carnivores eat other animals because its just the way of life. Thats how they live and thats how people live too. Its just part of life and it just can't be help. There is nothing wrong with consuming eat nor is there anything by not consuming meat. There is also nothing wrong with consuming creatures such as dogs, cat, mouse, lizard, or any other animal society here might find horrifying to eat because its just part of life. Sadly to say, but some sacrifices must be made to benefit another species and if that is what human kind must do then so be it

The picture above was one of the few things in the museum that caught my attention as a great characteristic of leadership, one which I would love to possess. This paragraph talks about a part of Vietnam war that the current U.S president during this time try to resolve through words rather than action. The last line of this paragraph state that North Vietnam ,who was the communist part of all Vietnam, actually consider to negotiate after the U.s president gave his speech. To have such leadership skill during the mist of war in order to prevent death by negotiation is rather impressive. This skill is great for me because if one can you use this skill in war to find alternative solution, someone like me could also use this skill to better society through the power of words rather than violence.
Just like the first picture, this picture also uses the leadership characteristic of words to find a solution to a problem. This picture state that after MLK had been assassinated Johnson was enrage and decided to seek out the african american leader to ask for helpin restoring claim in his nation. Later, Johnson went to congress to try to propose and persuade them into preventing discrimination in the sales and rental of homes. whether or not this proposal work or not its the fact that Johnson uses his leadership skill of words over violent to try and restore claim in his world.
Another leadership skills that I thought was unique is represented in the picture above. This picture display the president and the first lady standing on the balcony respectively waiting for the honor of guest. I thought this is a great leadership skill because by showing respect to others, you would get the same respect back. Considering these are some of the great leaders in the world, one must display great leadership to make the other feel welcome and safe. Respect is a key part of leadership I believe must be value because society loves to take care of their self but hardly other. With this leadership skill in me I can show society that their is more then just the people around you care about. The entire world is one big place that you must make everybody feel welcome and safe to live in

The life of Twin Kittens
It was cold and I, Xtina, was very scared. All I remember was that I was cuddling with my mother and my twin sister (Xi’an), in an attempt to stay warm. It was painful to hear loud noises in the background; dogs barking, cars honking, and construction. These were just a few of these frightening sounds we both experienced everyday because we were born into this unknown world, however there were more problems we had to face.
My sister and I were not only cold and scared, but we were also extremely hungry. The situation was made even worse because our mom had been laying on the floor next two us without moving an inch for days. I was worried that our mother might not live to see us grow up. She was our only support for food, love, and safety and I don’t think we could survive without her. So as days went by, I did what I could to help get her strength back. Pieces of bread, water, anything that my sister and me could get to feed our mom. But it wasn’t enough for her because I could still hear her stomach growled loudly. My sister and I looked at each other and realized that we were both thinking of the same thing; she was not going to last much longer.
Our family was running out of food, we were stuck living in a horrible environment, which humans called an “alley”, and my mother was struggling to barely stay awake. The “alley” smelled like rotten food, was dirty, and after a few days my entire family had begun to experience an itchy sensation, which we later learned, was due to fleas. At that point I realized I had hit rock bottom, but I knew that if I was going to die then I was glad that I could still be with my mom and sister. One afternoon later that week, I saw a really big van drive into in the alley. Two people came out of the van, one holding a net and the other holding a tool that seems to grab when you pull the handle. They were getting closer and I didn’t know what to do. At that moment, I heard my mom start to hiss at them. I knew my mom was trying to scare the humans away in an attempt to protect my sister and me, however the humans still decided to approach us. Since we are still young and hungry we couldn’t do much. I just lay there thinking nothing would go wrong because I had my mother there to keep me safe. As I held on to her, I felt a cold sensation on my neck. Everything happened so fast! I was picked up by the grabbing tool and carried away from my family and put into a box with holes on the sides (cage). Those people carried me back to the van and left me inside as they went back to get my mom and sister. All I could do was look through the holes to see what they were going to do next. I could hear my mom hiss louder as they got close to my sister. Sadly, I could tell my mom was too weak to do anything but hiss. The humans used their scary tools to pick up my sister, put her in the cage, carry her back into the van, and put her next to me. I was relieved that my sister was fine, but I was worried about my mom. Since she was a big cat, unlike us small kittens, they decided to use the net. Mom could only sit back and watch in horror as the humans carried out the same procedure onto her as they had done to my sister and me. Thankfully, my family was still together in this vehicle, but we had no idea what was going to happen next.
I was sleeping as the door of the van woke me up. Two more cages were placed beside us and both had cats in them. About 2 or 3 hours later, the entire back of the van was fill with cats in cages. It was so loud in the van that I could not even hear my sister or mom next to me. After awhile the noise began to settle down and we all felt the van stop. The door opened with two new humans in addition to the other two that had captured us. They all slowly pick up each cage at a time and carried them somewhere. Since my cage was on the bottom I was the last one to get carried away. I didn’t think about it until that moment, but I was being taken away from my mom and sister. I felt really frightened because this was the first time we had been separated from one another. I look forward and saw that I was being taken to some kind of building. As we entered the building, the first thing that startled me was the loud barking of dogs. It freaked me out even more when I saw so many dogs lock up in cages just like me. Then we entered another room where I saw cats lock up in cages like me. I was placed on top of a table. The front of the cage opened and then two hands reached in and grabbed me. This time it was a lady wearing a surgical mask. She held me up in the air high checking my entire body for wounds or any kind of injuries. She said, “this is fine” and put me back into my cage. All I could think at this time was my desire to be reunited with my family again. I just layed there in my cage helpless and then I was happy when I saw my mom. The lady picked up my mom and I heard her say, “this one is no good, it’s almost starve to death”. Then I did not know why but another person carried my mother into a different room. That entire day I just witness the same procedure for every cat that was taken in. They were either put next to the rest of us or put into another room where my mom was taken.
The next day began and I was really hungry. Those people gave me some food that I was unfamiliar with (cat food) but I ate them anyway. A few hours later, I saw these two ladies wearing a shirt with the letters “APA” looking at each of the cats and asking about their history. When they got to me I heard them saying “ this cat was with her mom and sister when we found her”. The APA lady asked, “Where is the mom and sister?” and the other lady respond “ the sister is in this room but we had to put the mom to sleep”. I soon realized that the reason my mom was put into a different room was because she had to be killed since she was already near death. I felt so depressed hearing that. All I wanted now was to be with my sister. The APA lady said, “Ok I’ll take this kitten along with her sister”. The next thing I knew, my cage was being carried away along with this other cage which was my sister who I had not seen since I had gotten out of the van. At this point I had no idea what would happen next. I was puzzled with so many questions. Where are we going? What will happen to us now? Are we going to end up like our mother?
The vehicle stop, the door open, and we were taken to this new build with the same letters “APA” on it. These two ladies took my sister and I out of our cage and took us to a bathtub where we were shampooed and cleaned. All the itchy feeling suddenly began to disappear. I felt so clean for the first time. After the shower they took us to this other room where they held us down and insert these needles into us. Although I was still confuse, I felt more secure here than the last building. I decided to go along with whatever these people planned for us. Afterwards, they took us to a room with lots of fun toys and comfortable pillows. I was with my sister finally and the lady put these things around our neck and said “Ok you are Xtina (me) and you are Xi’an (my sister), now go and have fun”. I was very intrigued that we were given these names. I did not know what to do or what just happen but I enjoyed the environment here better than the alley or the other building. I just looked at my sister Xi’an and we just ran everywhere playing, climbing, and enjoying ourselves for the first time in months. I had lost my mother, but no matter what I want to be with my sister always. Every time we go to sleep we always cuddle together and keep each other company. Everyday I see random strangers come into this building and every now and then take a cat with them. I keep hearing people say “you are about to meet your new family” when they take a cat with them. I too want to have a new family, along with my sister and so as times go by, both me and Xi’an were adopted into this new family where I know we will be safe and happy for as long as we live there.
Apendex
The most amazing site ever when you walk into the cat adoption site is seeing two baby kittens snuggling with each other. What makes this even more adorable is the fact that they are two sister kittens just recently born. A gray kitten named Xtina and a black kitten Xi’an. These two kittens were separated from their mom and now they only have each other to keep them company. They were hand fed and got all the require shots and got inspected for fleas. Now all that’s left is two baby kittens waiting for someone to adopt them so that they can sleep on your belly or just be there and sleep with you. As playful these kittens are they sure love to sleep. So if you like to see sleeping kitten or you like kitten that are playful yet very quite these two siblings are for you. Xtina is a funny cat because she loves to on you. Put her on your stomach and she have found a new bed. Xi’an is even funnier because she prefers hiding herself when she sleeps. If she sees a blanket she will go under it and take a nap. But what really cute is that they mainly prefer to stay close together and sleep with one another. After they are all rest up you can just bring a toy and they will be ready to jump and hope to places while you play with them. Its sad that they were separated from their mom. If you are going to adopt Xtina or Xi’an I suggest getting both of them at once otherwise they will get lonely. Losing your sister is not fun especially if they cuddling with one another. So come to the APA animal shelter at 2807 Manchaca and give these two kittens more siblings to play and sleep with. And for those who are afraid to get a kitten because they might fight with your dog, well don’t worry because these kittens loves to sleep with dogs too!!

State History Museum
The picture above symbolized the animal the native respect the most. The museum try to represent this tent with these drawing as an act of honor and connection the people had for the animal. This animal has been a great beneficial to the people weather it was use for transportation from different location to uses of meat for the people to eat. The animal seeing themselves on the tent of the native would have probably feel appreciative that they are known for something more then just an animal.
Just as the first picture represent the animal, this picture shows how the animal were use in people's daily lives. The reason why longhorn was so beneficial was mainly because of transportation. The museum wants to display the power these animal can provide to carry large amount of items from place to place. The animal might not mine as much because even though they provide lots of work people have to treat and take care of them right so that they won't have any health problem. The animal would probably be willing too give their support as long as the longhorn themselves get treat properly.
As a long days of work for the animal, they had to take a rest and be taking care of somewhere. This shows that just like usual animal raising, they put the longhorn in an area surrounded by fences to keep the animal sub stain from running away. They still have a lot of room to run freely and still have the freedom to act the way they want. This would have made the longhorn feel grateful because they are not just being force to do work and still expect to be treated inhumanly. The animal still get their freedom to act their natural way when they are on break. All three pictures represent how the longhorn is special to these people. It also display the strong connection between man and animal.

Sympathetic Imagination
Sympathetic imagination is a powerful source of literature as well as social emotion in the world. With sympathetic imagination one can have boundaries and point of view for another. "We are hounds. We have always been hounds. The long-ago faceless people-Before dumped us roadside in Mississippi" (pg 420) is a great example of sympathetic in my opinion. As I read the first few lines of this story automatically I felt a feeling of pity for these hounds. As they introduce who they are, they repeat again that they are hound but this time they added the diction "always" to emphasize and give a stronger tone. Then they gave an image of being dump by people who they do not want to name by calling them "faceless". All these components together and an audience such as me can give my emotionally feelings towards this fictional story. With the same effect in society, human beings can be more tamed and passive rather then destructive and outrageous to every one around them
"Let me tell you it's no life being dead. I'd give anything to chase the gulls again" (pg 438B) is another great sympathetic imagination example. No body likes being dead and as you read this story of this person who died you can feel sadness and pity for him. No body can really explain how it feels to be in the after life because once you are gone, you are gone. This man instead gives you an image of how he describe death. To him death is not fun, that anything would be better than death. I can sympathize with him because I wouldn't want to be dead either and after reading his story I strongly feel that I want to avoid that situation as much as possible. This example affects the audience in a sense that sympathetic imagination can enforce a person's own personal feelings. In society, those who can feel other people's pain doesn't want the same thing to happen to them so we try to narrow our path of decisions to better benefit us.
